HLN Start-up Pitch
Powered by ABN Amro
The hotel industry is facing higher energy and food prices. In addition, staff shortages are challenging. In every threat there is also an opportunity, agrees ABN AMRO. For that reason, three highly promising start-ups focusing on the hotel industry present themselves.
Which of these innovative start-ups do you think is the best? Ask them critical questions and cast your vote at the HLN Start-up Pitch on 2 September.

Sharon Reijmers
Head of Sales & Marketing Orbisk
Sharon Reijmers is head of Sales & Marketing at Orbisk. After 12 years working for Unilever Food Solutions in various commercial roles, she made the switch from the corporate world to a sustainable startup last year. Orbisk is a promising startup with a solution against food waste. Sustainability was also always a passion of hers within Unilever: ‘It gives a lot of energy to be involved in the startup of a company with which we can make a huge positive impact worldwide. With Orbisk, we offer a concrete solution against one of the biggest challenges worldwide, namely food waste,’ says Sharon.

Christel Schuurman
Co-Founder & Technical Director Please ask m
Christel has always been interested in technology. How it changes both our own lives and business.
With all the technological possibilities available, Christel sees a great challenge in making the MICE industry more efficient. After she joined the company, Postillion Hotels' Michiel project was converted to the SaaS solution Please ask m.
As co-founder and technical manager of Please ask m, she is responsible for the further development of the application and AI of the cloud solution m. A product that is dedicated to increasing the Banquet Sales employee's job happiness.

Marloes van Heteren
CEO Solarix
Marloes van Heteren studied architecture at Delft University of Technology. Because of the many sustainability assignments, Marloes became increasingly surprised by the lack of sustainable techniques and materials that can also be seen. While there are so many possibilities. This prompted her to start investing in beautiful sustainable facade panels herself, thus contributing to the energy transition in the built environment.
In 2016, she joined forces with artist and product designer Reinier Bosch and founded Solarix. The company was born out of a shared ambition to make the world a lot more sustainable and use design to do so. This allows them to make the best use of their expertise and make energy generation an integral part of the (re)design strategy of buildings.
With Solarix, we design and supply coloured solar panels that can be fully integrated into energy-generating facades.
The Hotelrede

The Hotelrede is an annually recurring element in which a famous Dutch person shares an outsider's view of the hotel industry to stimulate and inspire.
This year the Hotel speech is in the hands of none other than Martijn Koning. You may know this comedian from one of his many solo shows in theatres or from his TV appearances. It would be cuter if you have NOT yet seen him anywhere. Martijn Koning does not like sitting on his lazy ass, in fact he does not have one. He prefers to thunder on, through current affairs and everyday life.
To shake it off, and make fun of it. Where is the Hotelrede in better hands than with someone who doesn't know either, but makes you laugh out loud....?
Location

Beurs van Berlage
The Beurs van Berlage exudes history and character. In 1903 it was already a bustling trading place and today it is a 'one in a million' conference location in the warm heart of Amsterdam. High quality and service, an impressive atmosphere and excellent facilities are central. A bustling location that one will not soon forget!
Hotspot since 1903
The Beurs van Berlage has been an international hotspot with charm since 1903. A building of grandeur. But also 'the place to be' in the soul of Amsterdam where special things happen every day. World-class events, fairs, expositions and conferences.
